Dangerous ContentproductionJohannes Beus
Wall Street Journal blogger Lee Gomes is detailing his experiences with content production for the Internet in an article. To receive a job, he had to underbid his competitors until the price had fallen to 100 US-dollar for 50 articles with 500 words each (any one who knows where to get prices like that, my e-mail-address can be found on the legal page ...). His client then instructed him to write an article on the topic of the bird-flu and to emphasize that the virus will survive for centuries, that it can quickly jump from infected animals to other animals and that there is also a high danger of infection to humans. This case shows that the demand for “unique content” on the Internet can quickly turn into a danger and that, in the future, searchengines will also have to include the quality and truthfulness of the content into the ranking.
