In his
blog, Matt Cutt shattered a number of fairy-tales that exist about Google's technology.
Virutal Hosts – There are no ranking-disadvantages when using “virtual”, meaning HTTP/1.1 hosts. It is not necessary to have a unique IP for every Domain. I can see a lot of webhosters, how have been recently urged in that direction by customers, sighing with relief.
Links in Gmail – Links in Gmail have no bearing on the Google ranking. This rumor has been out there for a while and I think I can remember that links, which were in E-mails that went through the Gmail-system, got a visit from the Googlebot, but I will check up on that.
Loading time – A sites loading time is not a rankingfactor. It does not matter if a site loads in half a second or in five seconds, the time does not go into the algorithm.
