For a new Domain that was registered today on which a blog was installed
When a blog, that was just installed on a Domain that was newly registered today, was registered at Google Blogsearch, it did not take long until Yahoo came to visit:
crawl-66-249-66-240.googlebot.com - - [05/Jan/2007:14:50:38 +0100] "GET / HTTP/1.1" 200 3068 "-" "Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Googlebot/2.1; +http://www.google.com/bot.html)"
relay2.ops.scd.yahoo.net - - [05/Jan/2007:14:50:52 +0100] "GET / HTTP/1.0" 200 3068 "-" "YahooFeedSeeker/2.0 (compatible; Mozilla 4.0; MSIE 5.5; http://publisher.yahoo.com/rssguide)"
The YahooFeedSeeker is a specialized Yahoo bot for finding blogs. I do not really want to think of this as a coincidence – especially when we consider that this domain is both new and not yet registered with Yahoo. Maybe this is a little vengeance on the side of Yahoo for the theft of the Internet Explorer Download page by Google ...
Update: Now we have also had a visit from Technorati:
168.64.66.208.in-addr.arpa - - [05/Jan/2007:14:59:34 +0100] "GET / HTTP/1.0" 200 3068 "-" "Technoratibot/0.7"
Is Google pinging other services after a new registration or how is this working out?
