Search Engines & SEO Blog
SEO-toolsJohannes Beus
As of late I have frequently been asked which SEO-tools I recommend or to be precise, how I feel about the usage of such tools. For this reason I want to make it a subject of discussion here. I generally believe that especially newcomers to the SEO-topic should keep their fingers from any kind of tools. It is extremely important to start understanding the fundamental relations as soon as possible, especially for someone who just started to get involved in SEO. It gets much harder to understand causal relationships when using software in the beginning when you do not fully understand what it does. All you have to do is enter a few pieces of information, click a button and trust the “results” – regardless of what comes out “back”. This “black-box mentality” can then often be seen in other procedural steps. Especially the results and methods of all-in-one solutions should be critically questioned. Searchengine-optimization is, depending on the topic and site, a very individualized affair and if a software-vendor promises to have the ultimate SEO-application – then why are they not exclusively using it themselves to get rich?PS: I answered a few questions on the topic of SEO for Simon here. Maybe one or two of you will find them interesting ...
