Google intensifies their fight against link-sellersJohannes Beus
[Update: due to many e-mails and calls: the following was of course an April-fools joke!]Rumor has it that Google, as part of its current quality-offensive, will start to pay for information on bought and traded links. The current possibility to report links in the webmaster-console that were set apparently not freely but either in exchange for their own links or for money, is to be made more attractive through the payment of premiums. The searchengine-giant from Mountain View shows that crowdsourcing seems to be a trendsetting strategy to fight spam in the future. The bounty is supposed to be dependent on the severity of the offense – the discovery of a edu- or other trusted-link, which links to price-comparison- or loan-sites, will therefore be worth significantly more than a link for a comparatively harmless site on the topics of parquet or online-games. An interesting feature seems to be the monthly-toplist where the top-ten bounty hunters will be listed. Initial screenshots which have been leaked to the public and show a closed-beta, suggest that Wullfy is the top dog at the moment. Maybe SEO-United.de could start a poll so that this place can finally get a name ... I am happy that Google is finally showing commitment and dedication in their fight against sale- and purchase- of links and that, thanks to this innovative concept which should be grounded deep in the consciousness of the majority of Germans, they are taking steps in the direction of a completely spamfree index.
