PateRank-Update 07/2008 – analysis

The PageRank-Update is now distributed to all Google data-centers and consequently also viewable in the toolbar. I have taken the occurrence of a few noticeable changes as a reason to take on our database and write up a small analysis for this update.

Finally a DE-domain with PR9 again – It has been a long time but finally there is a “real” DE-domain with a Google-PageRank of 9. The “Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung” nabbed the coveted rank with bmbf.de. I am pretty sure that the PageRank is rather insignificant for the ministrie's work flow but congratulations nevertheless.

List of DE-domains with PR8 – since there are a few additions, I have updated the list with DE-domains which have a PageRank of 8. This time a few commercial projects gained entry, especially noteworthy are mister-wong.de and yigg.de – both should strongly profit from their integrations (“Yigg mich”, “URL bei Wong einstellen”) which are used in large numbers. Maybe Yigg.de will be able to overcome its relaunch hardships easier through the higher attention from Google. If a domain had a lower PageRank before the update it will be noted in parentheses behind the domain.

I count around 755 DE-domains with a PageRank of 7, of which 424 (!) have just attained this rank.

ps: A short explanation about this domain's PageRank since a few places house entertaining but unfounded assumptions about our rank. A few weeks ago I migrated the complete content that, for years, has been available at sistrix.com to sistrix.de per 301-redirect. Sometimes there are no problems with this and sometimes there are – sadly here the later was the case but only in reference to the PageRank. The nice, green, ego-boosting bar which only last update climbed to a PR6 now shows only a PR of 3 for sistrix.de. It will probably take another update before Google faces up to the facts and readjusts the PageRank. On the upside this should give me a breather from Bernd Sonnensegel and Karl Kredit's comments. I do not see any reason to worry since the ranking is not afflicted: new postings like the one about the Seekport bankruptcy still rank well and ahead of top-dogs like heise.de.
