How well are the link-sales going?Johannes Beus
While, about a year ago, we were knee-deep in a dispute over link-sales and -purchases, now this topic has cooled down noticeably. Networks like Linklift or Teliad are partially retreating from the public eye and are trying to establish products that make it harder for searchengines to detect bought links. A good many domains have been caught since Google started to lower the PageRank of sites that obviously bought links. I regularly take a look at lists with “unscheduled” PageRank changes and they are in motion nearly every day. I was rather amazed when a few days ago ksta.de, general-anzeiger-bonn.de and rundschau-online.de fell from PR6 to PR4. The reason for this was quickly located: these sites have, until a few days ago, been able to, publicly and by form, sell links that were able to affect the Google-ranking.I have listed all “unscheduled” PageRank changes since June 1st in a chart to get a feel of how extensive Google's depreciation of PageRank is. To make sure this is not too long I only listed the Domains that ended up with at least a PR of 3 and are German speaking:
It is amazing how many Domains still sell text-links even after Google distinctively showed that they discovered the purchased links.
