SEOktoberfest 2009

Johannes Beus
The second SEOktoberfests is over, I am back home and I had some time to process all the impressions and experiences. If someone had asked me before, I would not have thought it possible but this year was even better than the last. There are two reasons for this:

For one, they spread the conference out over three days, instead of last years two. The second day was spend at a spa which helped us refuel after the taxing first day – thanks to this, the third day was at least as productive as the first. The second reason for improvement was the increased number of participants as well as the increased industry-affiliation: when you have a renowned security expert like rSnake share his ideas on possible white- and blackhat-techniques for internetmarketing, then this opens up ideas that I would not have gotten to myself. Do not get me wrong: SEOktoberfest was not purely a blackhat-conference. You need to know both sides of the game if you want to have long-term success in the whitehat-sector and that is exactly what was conveyed here on the highest level. All of this was rounded off by the great, central venue and the perfect organization as well as the planning (thanks Philipp). I would suppose that Marcus will publish some more pictures/videos and I would be thrilled to be there again next year at the 200th (!) Oktoberfest.
