Opera and GooglebotJohannes Beus
intern.de is reporting that the current Opera-browser will pass on information to Google if you opt in on showing Google Adwords instead of the banners. This can become critical if you use Opera to surf directories that should normally not show up in Google's index. Restricting access via robots.txt becomes mandatory in this case.Update: The bot that is being baited by Opera calls itself “Mediapartners-Google/2.1 (+http://www.googlebot.com/bot.html)” and will show up mere minutes after visiting the site with the browser. Update2: It seems that the normal Google-Index is completely seperate from the Adwords-Index, which means that the concerns intern.de raised are unfounded. |
