IndexWatch 10/2009

October has passed and the new IndexWatch-numbers are here. As always, the following will show the fifteen winners and losers of the previous month in Google's index. This is based on the visibilityindex-numbers and will be complemented with some capricious comments about possible causes. Let's start with the winners:

Zazzle.de, a website where you can design your own t-shirts has gotten up to a dreamstart in the past few weeks. They are ranking for a multitude of keywords, though I am curious if the ranking will hold out for long. All they are doing is adopting their users concepts, which makes them end up with a number of terms that can lead to legal problems in Germany.

Wetter.de is the former Wetter.rtl.de – it seems that the move went through reasonably well and, to me, it also makes sense to use this domain if it already belongs to you anyways. Hot-Maps.com is also a domainchange from Hot-Maps.de.

As for the rest, some domains came out of a penalty. Let's see if this means some of these cases have changed their linkbuilding-strategies.

Last IndexWatch, I already assumed that Seedspill.com could start going down rather soon – something that has now apparently happened. The second website with a similar strategy (bizinformation.org) is still ranking well.

It seems that Bizrate.de has now managed to get their domain permanently booted from the rankings. The first efforts in this direction could already be seen in mid-last-year and now it seems that they managed to finish what was left. Maybe the market is not lucrative enough.

Bol.de is another example where it seems that they either did not learn from past mistakes or where they are creative enough to come up with new ones. After being stuck in a penalty for a few month around mid-2008, they're going down once again. I could suppose, that the amount of content that is not also available on a multitude of other pages is just not large enough for the quality and quantity of backlinks.
