After the massive criticism about his
posting, in which Google's foremost spamhunter called on everyone to report linkbuyers, he expanded his posting and is now answering frequent questions that he received on that matter. The interesting part is that he produces two examples of sites which were supposedly identified by Google's linkselleralgorithm. The first site – linux.org – has been selling links to Viagra-, poker- and hair restorer-sites for ages. The second one, a New York news site, did not rouse my suspicion yet but it seems that it was detected with the aid of similar criteria: Subject-irrelevant links in the navigation or the footer, one after the other with money-keywords. This might be an approach that should be kept an eye out in the future when buying links.
