It has not been long since there was a huge hubbub when Google recomposed their webmaster-guidelines to make them more accurate. The same happened when they
suggested that not only the purchase but also the trading of links, which aim to manipulate the searchresults, are not a good idea when trying to stay in the Googleindex. With that in mind,
Gerald is calling attention to a project that is obviously seeking a thrill: In a posting,
Infopirat is calling on others to link each other to strengthen the Technorati-rank as well as the number of backlinks. There is already a considerable number of blogs that participated, among them a few, whom I presumed had enough sense to know the scope of their actions from a SEO-point-of-view. Has SEO not become complicated enough already? Are there not already enough unwanted tripwires for them to make new ones themselves?
Infopirat's operator seems to generally love danger, I am otherwise unable to explain what drove them to steal some of my blogarticles 1:1 (1 2 etc). I am sure that this will be resolved by Monday. - resolved.
[update 08.14] As I can read from Jens at
Deutscheblogcharts, it seems that Technorati has already identified the manipulation-efforts and has consequently
banned the Infopirat-blog from its index.
