Is Yahoo constricting the backlink-query, too?

Johannes Beus
For Google it is notorious folklore that the displayed backlinks for a site are nearly worthless and since Microsoft deactivated their, until that point, excellent backlink-display over night we are left only with Yahoo as a searchengine with a sufficiently sized index for backlink-queries. Last week there was an accumulation of signs at Yahoo that they are planning to, or have already implemented, changes to the accessibility of their backlink-display. SearchEngineRoundTable is speculating whether – similar to Google's Webmaster-tools – only authenticated siteoperators will get to see their “own” backlinks completely, and that everyone else will only see a certain cross section. I was also able to observe the occurrence of major downward fluctuations in the number of found backlinks, even though I was not able to put this in relation to whether you are logged in or authenticated. We can only hope that this is due to some technical difficulties – otherwise this will make the work for most SEOs far more difficult.
