A topic that has been talked about in this blog more than once is the association of websites to languages and countries. Up until now my
suggestion was to preferably use as many of the signals on the origin and language of your site as you can provide the searchengines with and keep them distinct. Yesterday Google started to offer the
option of defining the origin of your site in the Webmaster-tools – a very useful step which has been overdue and which should clear up one of the many uncertainties in the searchengine-friendly design of websites as far as possible. You should pay attention though how detailed you make your definitions, Google is reminding people that they should only fill out fields which pertain to the target-audience for the site. In most cases this means you should stick to the choice of country.
