What does the file format mean on my link export?

The files you download in the link module are compressed using an archiving program. Depending on the selected link index, this can be either a *.zip, *.gz or *.bz file.

You can decompress these files with the help of an archiving program (such as WinZip, WinRAR or 7zip) and will receive a regular CSV file. Plain text files (and that is exactly what CSV files are) can be compressed extremely well (a size reduction of up to 95% can be achieved), whereby less bandwidth is used during the transfer and the download is completed faster.
