Google Panda on its way to EuropeJohannes Beus
After the Google Panda Update led to major uproar in the seo community when Google put it live in the US, it was only a matter of time until other markets would follow. Yesterday Google decided to bring Panda for all English searches worldwide into action. As with our analysis of the US update, I’d like to share some numbers and data on winners and losers from Panda. Like last time, the following table is based on a dataset of one million keywords, which were checked before the update and yesterday/today after Panda went live. The SISTRIX VisibilityIndex is an index value calculated from traffic on keywords, ranking and click-through rate on specific positions. Let’s start with a list of the 30 biggest losers:Loser
Looking at the data the results aren’t totally surprising: Domains like suite101.com and associatedcontent.com were among the biggest losers in the US as they are here in the UK now. New to the game are price comparison sites: Ciao after being bought by Microsoft for use in Bing some years ago is one of the biggest players in that market here in Europe and I’m quite sure they will notice this drop in traffic quite severe. If you are interested in a full list of 100 Domains suffering from this update, please drop me a short notice. Comments & Trackbacks1

Impressive numbers - thank you! Is there any price comparison site in the UK that was NOT affected by Panda? Looks like this market is dead now...

There is simply no stopping the panda. As much as people hate what it did in the U.S the reality is that it did clean up search results a bit. In the past someone could write a horrible article and just because it sat in a powerful directory it ranked. I think once the dust really settles from this and time passes we will see that it was a great move for the future of Google search.

Since Panda II incorporates at least some new functionality that Panda I did not include -- and since some people in the US are now reporting additional Panda-like behavior -- it would be very helpful if you did another analysis of the U.S. market.

As Michael said it would be great to see updated figures for the states as the bulk of reports i have read on the net from webmasters who were affected by Panda 1 seem to suggest they have seen no recovery regardless of what they have tried to do.

Google still gets is horribly wrong in very obvious places. Take for example: gosong.net, it has 6.5 million entries of pure nonsensical content in Google's index. This website should have been banished everywhere ages ago.

It might be good update in some cases but originated content which is scraped is also in some cases showing up higher ranked which is not probably what was intended.

From my tests and experiments this update is only focused on those sites has low or copied content.
Legit sites won't be affected
