The Google-medium Matt Cutts reports that from today on, Google is finally offering siteoperators the possibility to inspect current backlink-data through their Sitemaps-Tool. This feature has been asked for repeatedly by webmasters in the past and it seems that Google has finally realized it. The backlinks are shown per page where they are divided into internal and external backlinks. There is also an export-function for up to one million backlinks as CSV-file. If the first impression is not deceiving then Google will offer a very helpful tool for searchengineoptimizers as well as webmasters. In his post, Cutts is emphasizing that the number of shown links will grow in the future and that just because a link is displayed, it does not mean that this link will also inherit [PageRank|linklove|GoogleVoodoo].
