Google AI Mode Launched in UK

Hema Budaraju, VP of search at Google has just announced that AI Mode is available in the UK along with an eight-page explainer and a few snippets of usage information from tests in other countries.

Ai Mode is available as a tab on the Search results page, and in the Google app for Android and iOS. The direct link is http://google.com/aimode, if it’s available in your region. Here’s the announcement.

AI Mode has already been running as an option in the US and India and in the post today, Google says that “early users of AI Mode are asking questions that are two or three times the length of traditional search queries.”

AI Mode is particularly helpful for exploratory questions and for more complicated tasks like comparing products, planning a trip or understanding complex how-tos. Google.

Query Fan out

An eight-page AI Mode overview PDF has been published by Google and it goes into some of the background, the data and techniques used. Google also states that AI Mode features could migrate into the core Search experience over time.

The query fan-out technique is explained along with information about quality, safety and even satire and humour.

Top 100 domains in AI Mode

Top 100 domains in AI Mode in the US have already been published. We have found that while AI Mode changes both the presentation and selection of results it doesn’t completely turn the search world upside down.
