Up until now, the separation has been clear – if a visitor clicks on a SERP result, they end up on a web page and only leave it when the back-button is clicked. That may change with a new feature in the Chrome browser.
Under the name “Continuous Search”, Google (initially only as a beta feature and only on the Android version) shows the other search results between the address bar and your own website:
If your own website does not meet the user’s expectations, the barrier to switching to another search result will be significantly lower in the future. Let’s see how long it takes for ads appear next to organic results.
