TrendWatch – Consumer Electronics 2025

In this month’s edition of TrendWatch we focus on Anker SOLIX, the Apple Ultra 3, the Hayati Vape and many more interesting trends. Join us in discovering these trends and their backgrounds.

Is Temu Safe to Order From

Traffic trend showing a steady incline in search volume.

In May 2024, Americans were googling “is Temu legit?” Now Europeans are asking the same question as the ultra-budget marketplace pivots across the Atlantic.

The shift happened fast. Trump’s closure of the de minimis loophole on May 2, 2025 eliminated duty-free treatment for goods under $800 from China, effectively killing Temu’s US business model. The platform immediately stopped direct China-to-US shipments and pivoted to domestic fulfilment, while US daily active users plunged 52% by May.

Europe became the escape hatch. Temu increased UK advertising spend by 20% year-over-year and France by 115%, targeting a market where the platform already had 13 million monthly UK users. The value proposition for sellers remains strong with zero commission fees, helping maintain rock-bottom prices for buyers.

But the “is it safe?” searches aren’t unfounded. In October 2024, the European Commission launched a formal investigation into Temu over concerns about unsafe products including toys, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals. The British Toy and Hobby Association found 85% of toys from third-party sellers on 11 online marketplaces were unsafe, with three of five Temu toys posing choking or suffocation risks.

Turns out when you shop like a billionaire, sometimes the products are only safe for someone with billionaire-level lawyers.

Fisher Price DJ Table

Trend graph showing a strong, then steady increase in searches for "fisher price dj table".

The Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn Mix & Learn DJ Table, released in 2023, became TikTok’s most beloved baby toy thanks to its record-and-remix function that lets tiny DJs create actual tracks. The viral phenomenon exploded through videos like “DJ Sisi” and “DJ Pampers”, with parents pairing their babies’ play sessions with electronic tracks from artists like USED and Bou.

The organic virality worked so well that Fisher-Price partnered with influencers like Ong Squad for sponsored content, though by then babies had already done the marketing work. As the holidays approach, searches are climbing, with TikTok videos explicitly positioning it as the perfect Christmas gift. Because nothing says “good morning” quite like your six-month-old dropping dubstep before sunrise.

We’re not only seeing this trend online but also on Amazon.

Anker SOLIX

Graph showing a strong interest in "anker solix" over time.

Anker’s SOLIX Solarbank 2 is riding the wave of the UK government’s push for a “rooftop revolution,” presenting a smart, modular balcony solar and home battery solution that’s capturing growing attention across the country. Though plug-in balcony solar isn’t currently permitted in the UK, a recent government safety study aimed at unlocking this technology has sparked significant interest, particularly among renters searching for affordable and accessible solar options.

This interest is bolstered by zero VAT on domestic batteries (effective since February 2024), simplified planning regulations that ease rooftop solar installation, and still high energy costs capped by Ofgem, which keeps consumer focus sharp on energy savings.

Users commonly charge the SOLIX battery during cheaper off-peak hours or directly from rooftop or balcony solar panels, then draw on the stored energy during peak times when electricity prices are higher. This intelligent use helps households reduce reliance on expensive grid power, lowering bills and boosting sustainability. In addition, the battery acts as a reliable backup power source.

With potential policy changes soon to green-light plug-in balcony solar and a government roadmap encouraging solar on new homes by 2027, Anker SOLIX positions itself perfectly at the intersection of affordability, convenience, and green tech innovation. It offers a future-proof way for UK homeowners and renters to take greater control of their energy, while literally carrying a little sunshine in their pockets.

Apple Ultra 3

Trend graph showcasing a stark increase in search volume for "apple ultra 3" at the end of 2024 before dropping off march 2025. The volume once again strongly increased since August 2025.

The surge in interest around the Apple Watch Ultra 3 is particularly noteworthy for how speculation alone drove substantial search traffic throughout 2024. What makes this pattern fascinating is that the Ultra 3 never actually launched that year, Apple instead released only a new Jet Black colourway for the Ultra 2 in September 2024, leaving many enthusiasts disappointed.

What makes the Ultra 3 such a compelling consumer electronic is how it positions itself at the intersection of several high-growth wearables trends. The watch introduces satellite messaging capabilities that allow users to stay connected completely off-grid.

It’s a medical grade health monitoring device. Its hypertension detection feature targets a global health crisis affecting 1.3 billion adults, offering early warnings for a condition that frequently goes undiagnosed.

In my opinion, the health monitoring capabilities are compelling enough to make even the most dedicated Android users consider switching ecosystems. This is particularly true when looking at buying a smartwatch for older family members who would benefit from both the health features and Apple’s extensive in-store support network.

Unlike those oversized medical alert buttons that scream “I’ve fallen and I can’t get up,” the Ultra 3 is actually something seniors might be excited to wear! A sleek piece of tech that happens to monitor their health, rather than a conspicuous emergency beacon.

This combination of adventure-ready durability and medical-grade health monitoring represents the maturation of the smartwatch category. Where the global market is expected to grow by 2.5% in 2025, we are seeing it move from a simple notification devices into essential tools for safety, health management, and connectivity in situations where smartphones simply cannot function.

Ninja Crispi

Traffic trend indicating a surge in interest for "ninja crispi" in April 2024 and a steady increase since then.

When Ninja launched the Crispi, it was a reimagining of what the Air Fryer looked like. Instead of a bulky countertop unit with a basket, the Crispi features a handheld “PowerPod” that snaps onto glass containers in 6-cup or 4-quart sizes. You prep, cook, serve, and store all in the same glass vessel. No transferring between dishes. CNET named it the best air fryer to buy in 2025 Best Air Fryers of 2025: We Tested 20 Models to Find the 7 Best in 2025.

The Crispi is designed for Gen Z, students, renters, and anyone in small kitchens who doesn’t want heavy appliances taking up counter space. The glass containers are dishwasher-safe, stackable for storage, and come with leak-proof lids for portability.

The air fryer market is saturated, but glass-bowl models like the Crispi represent the newest trend. Traditional basket air fryers can’t compete on versatility: you can’t see your food cooking, you can’t serve from the basket, and you definitely can’t stick it in the fridge.

One thing is for sure, the Crispi is ideal for the person whose kitchen counter real estate costs more per square foot than their rent and those who can’t afford an oven!

Gaggia Espresso Machine

Graph with increasing search volume for "gaggia espresso machine" throughout the year.

The Gaggia Espresso Machine stands out among coffee machines.  Unlike the overall category trend where coffee machine searches see a surge during November and December, likely driven by holiday gift-giving, Gaggia’s search interest shows a steady, smooth upward curve throughout the year.

The Gaggia Espresso Machine transcends holiday interest because it is not just another coffee maker, it’s the invention that redefined espresso itself. In 1938, founder Giovanni Achille Gaggia revolutionised coffee with a patented piston mechanism that forced hot water through grounds at high pressure, creating the rich, creamy “crema” on top of the espresso shot, a hallmark of modern espresso and a game changer in coffee culture. This “god shot” capability means Gaggia machines deliver café-quality espresso every time, making them beloved not just during gift seasons but year-round. Known for durable construction, precise temperature control, and a design that invites hands-on artistry, Gaggia appeals to both casual coffee lovers and enthusiasts. Simply put, the Gaggia is not a seasonal fling, but a true espresso icon, turning every morning into a coffee celebration, no mistletoe required.

Garmin 265s

Trend graph showing a fluctuating but ultimately increasing trend in search volume for "garmin 265s".

The Garmin Forerunner 265S is trending as runners face the classic upgrade dilemma: buy last year’s proven model at a discount, or splurge on the shiny new one?

Released in March 2023, the 265S suddenly became “last gen” when Garmin launched the Forerunner 570 and 970 in May 2025. It has been showing up in Prime Day deals frequently discounted from $449, if you check SISTRIX’s data on Amazon you’ll see a huge spike in May 2025 and a periodic increase which can be linked to discounts on Amazon.

The reason the 265S remains popular is that it’s the smaller version (41.7mm) designed for smaller wrists but packing identical features: AMOLED display, Training Readiness scores, and 15 days of battery life. TechRadar calls it “officially the best running watch for most people” it’s positioned perfectly between the budget Forerunner 165 and premium 965. But with the 570 now available and at the time of writing there were still only rumours of a Forerunner 275 being released, shoppers are stuck in analysis paralysis. Nothing says “serious runner” quite like spending three months researching watches instead of actually running.

Hayati Vape

Graph showing a strong increase in search volume for "hayati vape" since the beginning of 2025.

Vapers in the UK are looking to find “ban-proof” alternatives ahead of the June 1, 2025 disposable vape ban. The legislation targets single-use vapes like Elf Bar 600 and Lost Mary BM600, but Hayati’s devices feature rechargeable batteries and replaceable pods, making them legal post-ban.

The Pro Max Plus delivers 6,000 puffs while the Pro Ultra Plus offers 25,000. Hayati’s marketing strategy goes beyond compliance. At Vaper Expo UK 2025, their booth featured interactive games and immersive brand experiences that increased visitor engagement. The brand leverages outdoor advertising in major retail hubs like Manchester, alongside digital marketing and influencer partnerships to position vaping as a lifestyle choice rather than just a smoking alternative.

Despite UK regulations restricting vape advertising on public social media, the brand uses online platforms for promotions and brand storytelling—navigating a complex regulatory landscape where billboard ads are legal but TikTok posts aren’t. Competing against Elf Bar and Lost Mary, Hayati’s bet on ban-proof certification and experiential marketing is paying off.

DJI Action 5

Trend graph for "dji action 5", illustrating a steady increase of searches.

The global action camera market was valued at $6.5 billion in 2024 and is expected to reach $12.49 billion by 2030, driven by social media content creation and adventure sports.  Since DJI’s Action 5 release in September 2024 it has been a favourite because of its focus on battery life and low-light performance. Digital Camera World noted that in low light, “GoPro has, frankly, been eclipsed” by DJI’s superior sensor and SuperNight mode.

On Amazon we’ve seen Search interest in the DJI Action 5 Pro has spiked recently for two reasons: aggressive discounting and the imminent arrival of its successor. We’re seeing some big discounts to $269 ahead of Prime Day, $70 off its launch price, making it cheaper than many mid-range options. Meanwhile, the DJI Action 6 is rumoured for mid-October 2025 creating the classic “buy now on sale or wait for the new model” dilemma.

What makes this year a good year to watch is that all the action camera brands launch around the same time, which is generally October every year to capture Christmas sales. What you should wait for, is all of the cameras to come out, to see who came out on top. Having said that, finding the best deals on last year’s winner is basically a sport itself at this point.

Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller

Trend graph showing a spike in searches for "nintendo switch 2 pro controller".

Searches for the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller are spiking four months after launch—not because it’s hard to find, but because gamers are holding out for special editions. The Switch 2 only has the standard black/grey controller available, while the original Switch got special editions for Smash, Xenoblade, Splatoon, Zelda, and Monster Hunter. Nintendo revealed the Switch 2 in January 2025, launching in June. The Pro Controller came with upgrades: a 3.5mm headphone jack, remapable GL and GR back buttons, and a “C” button for GameChat voice/video chat. Nintendo sold roughly 512,000 Pro Controllers in the US during launch month. The smartest buyers know: the black one always comes first, and the cool ones always come later.
