Find out more about the competitors who outrank you on Google. Use this knowledge to overtake them: analyze their keyword strategy, identify successful content formats, and study their traffic sources.
The competition indicator gives you a quick, compact overview of the intensity of competition for organic rankings on Google for the respective keyword.
To do this, we examine a number of factors, weight them, and form an indicator from 0 to 100. A value of 0 means that, based on experience, it is very easy to rank for this keyword, as there is no notable competition. A value of 100 means that many professional website owners are already competing for a ranking on this search term, making a good ranking difficult to achieve.
Around 15 values per keyword are regularly analyzed and condensed into this indicator. These include fairly intuitive metrics like the number of results, as well as more complex observations, such as the number of homepages (i.e., not subpages) in the top 10. The indicator is built logarithmically. In practice, this means that an increase in the competition indicator of 10 points reflects approximately twice as intense competition in the SERPs for that keyword.
