From AI to API: the New Functions in SISTRIX from the First Quarter of 2025

Google said goodbye to to the year 2024 with a core and a spam update – and didn’t deliver much less during the first quarter of 2025 to keep the world of search engine optimisation on its toes. We weren’t idle either! Next to bigger changes that have already been introduced in their own changelog articles there were many smaller improvements that make SISTRIX even better and equipped for the future. Here you can find everything that was added during the first quarter of the year:

Throughout the end of 2024 and the first quarter of this year, the SEO landscape underwent some significant changes. Above everything, Google pushed the integration of their AI Overviews in the search results even further. In markets such as the US and UK they are being displayed on a noticeable amount of search queries. In Europe, on the other hand, they are currently only visible for users that are logged in and of legal age – but this will probably also change at some point.

And with it, most likely SEO as we know it (once again) as well. Simultaneously, Google has rolled out multiple larger updates – among others two core and one spam update – and taken much stricter measures against substandard content.

The first quarter of 2025 brings a slew of new functions and improvements for SISTRIX. Our goal is to make data-driven analyses even more precise, flexible and accessible – both in the area of SEO and the evaluation of Amazon products or new developments in the field of generative AI.

In the following overview we will summarise all changes from the past three months. These functions are either immediately available or can be activated via SISTRIX Labs or a beta registration. All innovations can be tested directly in your own account as usual.

Tracking AI Overviews with SISTRIX

AI Overviews have been visible in US, UK and other non-EU countries for a while but are now being tested in the EU. However, Google has announced that this type of result will be made available for a wider amount of search queries. Google will presumably make the overviews visible for users that aren’t logged in soon. From that point on, the overviews can be analysed in SISTRIX as well – the same way that it’s already possible to do so in the US and UK.

Example of what filtering for "AI Overviews" in the keyword section looks like.

In SISTRIX you can already analyse for which keywords the evaluated website comes up in the AI overviews for the aforementioned two countries. By using this function you can assess how the AI overviews might affect the organic clicks and rankings.

Beta: AI/Chatbot Analysis

No SEO without AI – it already dictates the day-to-day life of nearly all SEOs, content marketers and everybody who engages with online marketing on a daily basis. Despite this, we still know remarkably few things about the algorithms that are behind the results in generative search systems.

It is just as difficult to comprehend what websites or brand are being displayed in response to different prompts.

We want to change this.

SISTRIX is currently finalising a new analysis tool and data-set for visibility in generative AI systems.

Interested users can register for the beta of the AI/Chatbot Analysis. The tool shows you, which content of brand, product or a competitor will be shown by chatbots such as ChatGPT (OpenAI) and Gemini (Google) – and how these results perform in the immediate comparison to competitors.

In the current version, the data sources have been supplemented with Gemini, the sorting of the prompts reworked and the layout of the familiar table structure of SISTRIX has been adjusted. Important answers now appear at the top to improve the overview.

Additionally, in the prompt list we are showing an indicator of frequency that will let you know how often a prompt was enquired about. Similarly to the unused keywords in our Google section, there is a “Unused Prompts” overview within the AI module. Additionally, we are planning to give you the option to deposit individual prompts and automatically monitor them in AI search systems such as Perplexity.

Currently, this tool is still in the beta phase and access will be gradually granted. The final version is expected to be available during the second quarter of 2025.

Amazon: AI Summaries of Reviews

Even Amazon is now using AI to summarise customer reviews and illustrate the advantages and disadvantages of a product. These summaries are also available in the Amazon module by SISTRIX from now on. The software automatically extracts the most important statements from the customer reviews of a product. This way, you can immediately see which strengths and weaknesses are being named by the buyers – without having to read every single review.

The AI summaries are also collected in SISTRIX for Amazon and can be tracked side by side with the reviews.

Between AI Trends and Tool Improvements: This is What Happened

AI topics have characterised many discussions surrounding the topic of search engine optimisation during the past months – or really for years. We at SISTRIX are also putting developments all about generative AI strongly into our focus. At the same time we are continuously working on our core: the further advancement of our features. Most recently, we have expanded the onpage projects, reworked the API documentation and offered three new Labs functions.

SISTRIX is being constantly optimised to deliver the most topical and reliable data surrounding relevant focus topics in the fast-paced world of search engine optimisation. Create your free 14-day trial account and convince yourself.

Precisely Recrawling Individual Pages in the Onpage Project

With the onpage projects in SISTRIX you can regularly analyse websites – for example to check loading times, faulty status codes or other errors. The website is, similarly to a search engine bot, crawled and evaluated during this process. The projects can be configured individually and aligned for a specific area or question.

In the URL explorer of your onpage project you can now find a new button to initiate the crawl of a specific page immediately. This way, you can skip the tedious effort of doing a full project crawl while still receiving current data to your optimisation.

This function is especially helpful to quickly validate technical adjustments or content changes – without losing time and with a minimal expense of resources.

You can find the recrawl button 1 in the URL explorer of the respective page. Simply click, refresh and immediately view the new results.

New API function: domain.traffic.estimation

At the end of the previous year, our API received an extensive update to improve its usability even further. One of the most important innovations: API requests can now be tested directly in the documentation. You can select between real data (with an API key) or dummy data – without any set-up. Every function can be issued in four programming languages and tested via click. In addition, in the course of this update three functions were added:

keyword.seo.metrics

This function delivers central numbers for a keyword – among which are the search volume, CPC, competition and further KPIs. Perfect for a quick assessment.

keyword.seo.competition

With this feature, you can retrieve competitor data for a keyword directly via API. This way, you can make well-founded SEO decisions.

countries

This function lists all countries that SISTRIX offers data for – ideal for international analyses with Google and Amazon data.

New in Q1 2025 – domain.traffic.estimation

This first quarter of the year, we added a new function to the SISTRIX API. The new method domain.traffic.estimation offers an estimation of the traffic distribution of a domain. You can use this, for example, if you want to figure out how much search traffic parts of a website receive.

Experimental Functions in the SISTRIX Labs

In the SISTRIX Labs new functions that we are currently still working on that need a finishing touch can be manually activated and tested. This way, we collect valuable feedback which we use to further advance these features.

From the first quarter of the year we have one new feature you can find in the Labs:

Worldwide data: new possibilities for global analyses

With the new worldwide data, analysing international domains has become notably more extensive. Keywords, URLs and the Visibility Index can be examined across countries now. In the domain overview you can now choose the new “Worldwide” view, that sums up the rankings of over 50 countries.

The data can be sorted, filtered and more deeply analysed as usual. Additionally, the placement of keywords in the Google Knowledge Graph is possible in a worldwide context. On top of that, SISTRIX shows in which country each keyword is represented the most.

The functions for directories, host names and ranking URLs was expanded as well and now shows a global perspective of the build of a website. This way you can easily comprehend, which parts of a domain are the most visible across the world. The competitors of a domain are shown on a global level too and thus offer new possibilities for international marketing analyses. You can find more info in the complete changelog article.

12-month-prognosis for search volume

In the Labs, we offer a 12-month prognosis for the search volume of keywords. A statistical model calculates the expected development of the search volume for a keyword in the upcoming year, based on historical data. Of course, no future is set in stone and no prognosis is a guarantee – but the past trends and seasonal patterns provide a solid base for this forecast.

Detailed CTR analysis

This might not be completely new but it’s still one of the active Labs features – and thus deserves a place in this overview: the detailed CTR analysis.

The Click Through Rate (CTR) is a central number in SEO and shows how often users actually click on one of the results after a Google search. It is well-known, that they are connected to the ranking position and search intent – but even with a consistent position there can be exceptions. This is where unused potentials often lie.

With the detailed CTR analysis in SISTRIX you can identify them easily. As soon as a domain is connected with the Google search console, for each keyword SISTRIX will show the expected and actually achieved CTR – including the snippets that were shown, as well as comparable results from competitors.

This way, you can quickly see where possibilities for optimisation lie – for example, in the meta description. Once the feature was activated via SISTRIX Labs it is available in the “Google Search Console” section in the navigation menu on the left.

Test All New Functions Now

With these new developments, SISTRIX once again broadens the possibilities for SEO and Amazon analyses. All new functions are now available in your own SISTRIX account and can be tested immediately.

As always, we would love to hear your feedback about these new functions – so we can improve these functions even further and develop exactly those tools that are actually in use in your everyday working routine.
