AI Overviews: New filter options, in-box AIO analysis available in SISTRIX

For a few weeks now, the generative AI answers (AI Overviews) in Google search results have been visible to a much larger number of countries. An AI Overview appears for over 15% of search terms in UK search. SISTRIX now offers several options for evaluating the new boxes.

With AI Overviews (AIO), Google now provides answers to many search queries directly in the SERP.

Google has already attempted to provide searchers with a suitable answer to their questions as directly as possible with Direct Answers (e.g., for sports results), vertical searches such as video searches, and Knowledge Graph integrations but with the AI ​​offensive, SEOs must now embrace a new understanding of “visibility.” With SISTRIX, however, we continue to provide the data foundation to make visibility analysis easier.

New keyword filter: AI Overview – With ranking

After entering a domain in the search bar, a filter is now available in the keyword table that can be used to specifically filter for keywords for which Google displays an AI overview.

As soon as a domain is analysed, the usual selection of SERP features (e.g. videos, local pack, featured snippets) appears in the filter area at the top left.

In addition, by activating the “With Ranking” checkbox in the filter settings, only those keywords are displayed for which the corresponding domain is also cited as a source within the AIO box.

New feature – AI Overviews within SERP

After entering a domain in the SISTRIX search bar, the new feature “AI Overviews” is now available in the navigation on the left side.

This table 1 lists all keywords for which an AI Overview is displayed and the domain is cited, including other useful details.

This also displays which specific URL is cited in the AI ​​Overview, as well as the position within the box where the page is mentioned. In addition, other known data about the keyword, such as search volume, competitive intensity, or CPC, is available which allows you to get a clear picture of the entered domain in Google’s AI Overviews with just one click.

In the rightmost column of the table 2, a green check mark or red cross indicates whether the URL referenced in the AI ​​Overview also appears organically in the SERPs we track.

This new overview enables a consolidated evaluation of visibility within the AI ​​Overviews without having to manually filter individual keywords.

Specific keywords can also be evaluated for AIO content individually through our keyword database, without a direct connection to a specific domain.

After entering it into the search bar or calling it up from a table, the familiar menu item “SERP Archive” (mobile or desktop) can be found in the navigation on the left side.

If Google displays an AI Overview box for this keyword, it will be recreated here. This includes the text generated and the exact URLs cited. We’ve also begun to recognize entities in the answers. This gives us a better understanding of how Google sorts the world’s information.

This enables a more detailed analysis of the content, source references, and thematic structure of the generative answer. Especially in this early phase of Google’s AI offensive, it is possible to directly gain a data-driven understanding of the new elements and possibilities.

Understand AI Overviews with the new features

The new features now allow you to precisely analyse whether and how a domain is visible in Google’s AI Overviews. The new filter shows, at the keyword level, where your site is cited as a source in the generative answers. The new overview offers a centralized analysis of all relevant keywords, including position and additional metrics.

In addition, the SERP Archive view shows the complete contents of individual AI Overviews, including source information and recognized entities, enabling a more detailed analysis of the answer boxes.

The new features are now available in all SISTRIX accounts and can be used immediately. Have fun trying them out!

Current distribution of the AI ​​Overviews in UK search

In the future, our understanding of “visibility” will likely shift. Visibility will be more than just ranking in the top 10—it’s now about mentions, citations , and whether your brand is even part of the conversation.

In UK search, AI overviews are currently (25.06.2025) present in 15.41% of SERPs and has been stable for the last 30 days.

Featured snippets have largely been replaced and are currently shown for 5.68% of results in UK search.

Overall, it’s clear that Google’s AI offensive is reshuffling the deck. Not only with new SERP elements like AI Overviews or the recently introduced AI Mode (in the US), but also with the evaluation and weighting of domains , which no longer follow the patterns we’ve been accustomed to for many years.
